the long wait is over

I've waited my whole life for a Triple Crown.

I was born the year Secretariat won, and have a poster of his amazing performance hanging in my house. The first Kentucky Derby I remember: 1982 Gato del Sol.

American Pharoah's win today had me in tears. The drought is over. It IS possible without changing the format, greatness will prevail.

Congratulations American Pharoah. You go down in history with the greats.

  1. I was born the year after Affirmed won. I had seen none in my lifetime. Until today.

    1. After so many close calls and tragedies, I was skeptical. Now I'm just amazed.

I'd still rather ride my much slower horse 50 miles, but 1-1/2 was good enough! 😀

  2. Wire to wire :D

I saw Secretariat win his Triple Crown and have been hooked ever since. We watched history being made today.

    1. Cool. I watch Secretariat's Belmont every year and get chills. I can't imagine we'll see his like again, but definitely history.

  3. I was born in 1970 so I "had" 3 Triple Crown winners before Saturday's, but the American Pharoah one is the only one I could watch and enjoy. I don't support horse racing anymore so I didn't see the Derby, but I did catch the Preakness, but only because I was channel-surfing and landed on our NBC affiliate as they were being loaded into the starting gate and decided to watch it. The Belmont I made a point of watching and I was so excited to actually witness a Triple Crown win.
