good night

17 years ago a feral kitten appeared in my backyard. My roommates and I called it "Tom" cat. It was not tame, but I trapped it and got her fixed.

And she never left. Until I had to let her go last week. It was the right choice, and the hardest thing I've ever done.

I do not believe there is anything past this world. But for 17 years I was her world, and she made mine whole. And that will have to be enough.

Good night, Thomas.

  2. I'm so sorry - it is amazing how much our animals enrich our lives and how devastating it is to have them leave. May time ease your pain.

  5. My sympathies. It's never easy to let them go even when you know it was the right thing. Thomas was a gorgeous cat and you gave him 18 years he may not have otherwise had if you hadn't let him adopt you.

  6. So sorry, so hard to say goodbye. We have multiple aged pets and nearly thought we were headed that way with my faithful Georgia a few weeks ago. We are just so blessed to have all this time with them.

  8. So sorry about Thomas. Some people find another pet to love right away; some need to wait. But at whatever time you feel ready, I think you will find a new window cat. Everyone needs a window cat.
