monday moment: fiction

I found some old friends at the Goodwill store the other day.

Anyone you recognize?

I do hope they went home with some new fan. I felt sad to leave them there, but I have my own copies at home. Top of my list is King of the Wind, but I'd like to revisit some classics (ok, maybe not Black Gold, it's pretty tragic, and let's not even talk about The Red Pony.) I think I'll be digging out that box labeled "horse books" for some winter reading.

  1. Black Gold, but honestly I cannot remember what happened.

My dad's nickname for me as a kid was Flicka, cuz I was always cantering around tossing my head. (Way beyond age-appropriateness.)

    1. Black Gold is standard tragic racehorse injury/death to tramutize me as a child/adult.

Everyone should canter (like skipping) it is good for your soul.

  2. Hey, California girl, can you tell me if I'm right, in my last blog, about that tree I call Californian? It's in my video. I've seen that tree in Washington on the coast as well, but mostly in California, I think.

  3. I loved King of the Wind! And The Red Pony made me forever paranoid of strangles.

    1. Argh, the Red Pony, too heartbreaking to re-read. King of the Wind is probably why I own an Arabian!
