double dog damn

I may as well update as I wait for the pull trailer.

Yup, 18 miles in, no bad steps on trail, vets can't decide right or left front, no heat or swelling, just a bit off.

But enough off that we're done. After a brief meltdown I untacked and cleaned my horse up, who promptly found a sandy place to roll.

I'm off for an evening pity party, more later. Last night at the raffle I did win a guaranteed spot for next year, we'll see. I'm just disappointed. And worried, though Major looks great, weighting all limbs, etc. Damn.

  4. At least you got your horse camping in this year. Endurance rides...maybe the next one. Sorry to hear about this year, maybe next year.

  5. At least you got your horse camping in for the year. Maybe the next endurance ride will go better. Sorry to hear about this one.

  6. Bummer. :(
Maybe there's a good reason you didn't get further down the trail - you never know. Hope Major's issue is minor and resolves soon!

    1. I agree. Disappointing but gotta take care of my best buddy! He was looking sound by the time we trailered out, about 4pm. Then cut himself up in the trailer on the bad steep road. But looks fine. A long weekend!

    2. So I have Roo blood and Major blood decorating my trailer! Lucy's driveway is very steep and Roo crashed on the way down it. I think I need about ten yards of fleece to cover those rough walls for my Arab friends!

    3. Yeah, he was not lame anymore when I loaded him up, but going down the nasty hill he scrambled and cut himself up. Padded trailer needed! You're awesome to loan your trailer. He is usually great in the trailer, but that road out was so steep, I didn't even want to look at how the trailer was leaning.

    4. I've heard it's bad, but I've never trailered out there so I didn't even think about it. We slapped my old shipping boots on Roo for the trip home - if I'd thought about it, I would've told you where they were and you could've bubble wrapped Major. Double damn.

I'll see if I can find a pair of Arab ship boots for cheap this year and offer them up with the trailer for next year's TRR. But you are not to use the pull trailer again; you are to finish the ride!

  7. Thank you for being so incredibly patient with such a long day of waiting. It's a really tough vet check logistically. Next year I hope we can get another full size truck or two to come up the hill for the crew bags and/or clean up crew and the evac trailer can leave when the last horses do. Thanks to you and SO again! Hope we see you next year.

  8. I was shocked when I saw a naked Major at Hobart! Hugs, I'm so sorry your ride was short. :(
